Fall Training 2009

Our fall training has begun. We are patiently awaiting the first flakes of winter, and using the fall weather to train and condition the dogs. We have mapped out a few trails, and have even received invites from others who have their own trails to run on theirs when the snow is just right. Our first runs this season have been mostly at dusk when the temperatures are cooler. I have even managed to get Josh out of bed in the early mornings for a before breakfast run! Doesn't take much convincing since he lives for his dogs and his family. We had the privilege of meeting Lance Mackey in September and networking with several other mushers. We left excited and motivated to do better, learn more, and of course acquire more accessories. We're currently in the process of getting a dog box for the truck/trailer, a few drop lines, and some extra accessories for the sled. I guess it really never ends! Once we have our dog box, the skies the limit. We can travel to any trail, and never be without them. We plan on spending some time training at Josh's parents place on their 95 acres of trails, and can even camp in the snow with them in the winter there. I can't say enough how much mushing has changed our lives. Here are a few of our photos from the beginning of fall training. Enjoy!
