Our Beloved Dogs

Cash

Picture
Cash is the first dog we adopted from the SPCA.  He is a Husky X Sheppard, 5 years old, and one of the smartest boys we have.  When we adopted him, we had no intentions of running him on a sled. He has proved to be a great runner, and we hope to train him to run as lead dog. He is never cabled and spends his day guarding the yard. His favourite spot is on the couch next to us, and with his head hanging out the window on truck rides. He gets along with all of the dogs in our yard, and loves to play with them everyday. He loves his friends.

Cylo

Picture
Cylo is a 5 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback cross, and he really believes that snow is a bad four letter word.  We adopted him just shortly after Cash from the SPCA as Cash's best buddy.  He likes to shiver in the cold when your looking, and then when your not, he runs and buries himself deep in the white snow.  He is our very own "mommy" dog to our puppies, and watches out for them if they try to wander to far.  He is the most gentle, kind hearted boy we have. He will give lots of kisses and hugs, and likes to curl up in bed with us.  Cylo will spend the winters running casually with his Sue Moss jacket, and ride happily in the bucket.

Bodie (Bodisafa)

Picture
Bodie came to us as a 6 week old pup, and has changed our world. He looked just like a little racoon.  He is a little siberian husky, a little shepherd, and of course, a little malamute.  At just over a year old, he is smart, quiet, and so gentle.  He acts as though he has years of wisdom. We knew almost right away that he was to lead a pack. When we adopted Bodie and his brother Koen, we decided that we could finally start our own trips with the dogs.  A bit of training this fall with Bodie has proved that he has it. When anyone comes to the yard, they always pick Bodie as their favourite.  Now all he needs is some snow!

Koen

Picture
Koen is a different boy from his brother Bodie.  Koen is very outgoing, and active.  We hear more from Koen in the yard then most of the others.  He is so sweet though.  He may not be the brains of the operation, but certainly has dedication when running. He has stamina, perseverance, and a genuine love to run.  We almost lost Koen this year when he was poisoned by someone.  He held on and showed us just how strong he really is.  He loves to curl up in your lap, and wants to know that he is loved.  I think he thinks he's still small!  We look forward to seeing what he can do this season.

Zeus

Picture
This  boy came to us from Paul at Chocpaw in South River, Ontario. He is 12 years old, Alaskan Husky, and still going strong.  He was born in the pen there, and has run all of his life.  He was one of the dogs on our team when we took a trip with Chocpaw, and have loved him ever since.  He has the best heart, and never asks for much.  He is quiet, but very smart.  This year we ran him as lead to help some of the others boys learn the ropes, and he proved to be very helpful.  If he didn't want to be outside all the time, I would have him in bed with me every night.  He never complains, never makes a mess, and lives to run.  We love having Zeus this year to run for us.

Zipper

Picture
Zipper has found a wonderful retirement home with a family in Sudbury. Although we miss him dearly, we have heard that he has taken to his new home very well. He got a much deserved bath, and a spot to snuggle in their home. We wish Zipper and his new family MANY years of happiness together.

Frankie

Picture
Here's our big boy.  Frankie weighs in around 95 pounds of pure Siberian Husky.  We have just adopted him from Charli at the Den in the Glen in Rutherglen, Ontario.  Frankie is 10 years old, and has been running as a lead dog.  Frankie loves to pace in his ring, and is becoming a very lovable addition to our family.  He is usually quiet until you show him a harness or a sled, and then he lets you know it's his turn.  We have tried to allow him room to run in our dog pen, but he escapes almost every time.  He can scale a fence in under 2 seconds, but always returns for dinner.  This beautiful boy has the longest legs in the yard, and we anticipate that he will run faster than any dog we have.  His spirit is great, and loves all people, kids and dogs.  I know once the first flake falls he'll be ready to go.

Whiskey

Picture
Our most talkative boy is 3 years old and ready for anything.  He is a pure siberian husky who came to us from Charli.  He is very active and we believe he can go the distance.  He is a little timid around new people but comes around when he knows your friendly. Smart, good looking, and really charming.  We moved him to the back of the yard because he howls in the night.  We wouldn't change a thing about him.  He is very strong, and very fast.  We hope to run him as point or swing, and we are working hard to socialize him with the other dogs.  We look forward to this season so we can see what he can do.

Rave

Picture
Rave has arrived. He is an Alaskan Husky who was born August 30, 2004. He came to us from Andy and Tenasha Willis by adoption. We have had the opportunity to run with him several times, including at the Lance Mackey meet and greet, and he is a wonderful lead dog. He is a gee haw leader who is a little shy at times, but has come to love us very much. He likes all of our other dogs, and never complains. When you show him a harness he really comes out of his shell. As a strong leader, he has helped us to run our other dogs with better success, and keeps them all on track (or trail!) Were glad to say that he is eating and drinking well, and loves our frozen beef bones so much that he can polish one off in under 5 minutes. Rave is a great addition to our family with his sweet personality and his endurance on the trail. A big thanks goes out to Andy and Tenasha.

Kya

Picture
Kya is a very stunning 4 year old AKC registered Siberian Husky. We adopted her from a home in Sudbury and she fits in perfectly. Kya had her very first litter of puppies on March 2, 2010 with our adorable Whiskey. Four males, one white, and the others Black and White. She is an excellent mom, and has even improved on her personality a bit too. She has taken to us and loves to snuggle. She really enjoys chasing birds and other small animals though. If you get her talking, she sounds just like Chewbacca  from Star Wars, and will even sing you a song if you ask politely. She's just one of a kind!!

Rainy

Picture
Our little holy terror was born on September 12, 2009 in Andy and Tenasha's house. Her parents are Jules and Key, with little Rainy looking just like her dad. She is very smart, well liked, and is growing leaps and bounds. We are currently potty training, and will start her gee-haw training in just a few weeks. Can't wait to search for her in the snow!
